Noida police booked a Delhi resident after an investigation revealed that an oral complaint he had given on Wednesday, saying two bike-borne assailants had stolen Rs 4.5 lakh from him, was false. The probe indicated that the man wanted to embezzle his employer’s money by giving false information to the police.

An officer said, “We received the information around 1.10 pm on July 19. The complainant told us that he worked for a security systems company based in Sector 117, Noida. He said he was coming from Delhi on his friend’s Maruti Brezza car and near AVS Orchard society in Sector 77, two men arrived on a bike and asked him to stop the car and robbed Rs 4.5 lakh kept in the vehicle.”

Noida Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Shakti Mohan Avasthy said the investigation found it to be a false case. “After receiving the information, a police team from Sector 113 immediately reached the spot. During the search, we found that the money was kept in a ‘safe space’ in the car. He wanted to embezzle his employer’s money, so he gave the false information. The truth was uncovered in two hours,” said the ADCP.
